With an ambition to create a more modern building, with a greater number of classrooms and better facilities for in excess of 1,000 students, the Nottingham based Roman Catholic; Becket School was re-built on a single site, situated between the two previous buildings.

Commissioned by Nottingham builder ROK, architects Horsley Huber incorporated a curved walkway into the £19.1m project. Spanning the inner circumference of the building and built to provide shelter from the elements when moving between classes, the walkway was glazed with almost 250 panels of Solar Grey Palsun Plus polycarbonate.

These 8mm panels, which were supplied cut-to-size by plastics distributor and stockist, Perspex Distribution Ltd based in Tamworth, were chosen specifically for their weather resistant properties and for the muted grey colour which blends seamlessly with the grey façade and framework used in the rest of the building.

Complete with sophisticated new IT systems, large sports hall and their own recording studio, the new Becket School offers its pupils state of the art facilities in a single contemporary space.
