PERSPEX® Extruded Acrylic

Extruded acrylic sheet offers excellent thickness tolerance and is extremely easy to vacuum form, making it ideal for applications where complex shapes are required.

extruded acrylic sheet cut to size

Whereas PERSPEX® cast is produced in small batches, extruded acrylic sheet is made by extruding acrylic polymer over longer, more economical production runs. Consequently, the extruded sheet is not available in the same extensive range of colours, thicknesses and finishes. However, it is more economical and is suitable for applications where thermoforming and vacuum forming are required to achieve intricate shapes.

We stock a wide range of extruded acrylic – see the links below for details of the sheet sizes available within each range.

What Is Extruded Acrylic?

Extruded acrylic is acrylic plastic that is manufactured by extrusion. This process involves heating and then feeding the acrylic polymer through a barrel, continuously. The position of the rollers will create the resulting thickness, the manufacturing process creates a material with a higher thickness tolerance, achieving +/-5% variance (3mm-20mm). Extruded acrylic is easy to laser cut, rout, mold and polish.

Why Choose Extruded Acrylic

Extruded acrylic is more cost-effective than cast acrylic and depending on the application is more suitable as it is a better acrylic for achieving intricate shapes and designs.

Weather-resistant

Clear extruded acrylic is excellent at withstanding the elements with no visible changes expected from UV exposure for up to 10 years.

Optical clarity

Although the optical clarity is not as high as cast acrylic, extruded acrylic still has high clarity, so unless the optimal clarity is required, extruded acrylic is a suitable material.

Polished surface

Extruded acrylic can be polished to give a high gloss finish. The material can be repolished time and time again to rejuvenate the material.

Complex shapes

Extruded acrylic is suitable for thermoforming and vacuum forming, this method of manipulating the material will allow you to create complex shapes and products.
