As part of Broadgate’s Shaped By Design season & London Design Festival (16-24 Sept), London based artist Helen Brough is presenting Dahlia Cuore, a design focused sculpture inspired by a painting from her Fiori series which recently showcased at the inaugural NY edition of The Other Art Fair.
Throughout history, flowers have symbolised extreme human emotion from birth and death to love and war and finally joy. Hovering in the atrium of British Land’s award winning Exchange House, is a colour charged 3D extension of the artist’s original work playing on the words Fury and Fiori - the Italian word for flower.
Intricately constructed from vibrant hued Perspex® acrylic layers - Dahlia Cuore’s structure radiates into the surrounding space, affording 360 degree viewpoints from both within the building and the surrounding walkways, beckoning the viewer to pause, gaze and reflect.
Suspended using 7-metre steel cables, the 10 laser cut Perspex® acrylic layers measure an impressive 2m x 2m x 2m.

“The idea behind the sculpture was to have a series of layers that decreased, producing an effect of perspective and a focal point where the viewer could gaze into the sculpture – in effect looking through the heart of the Dahlia.
The Perspex® colours were carefully chosen to produce a chromatic scale using complimentary opposites to increase the effect of the depth of the piece.” – Helen Brough
The exhibition continues in Broadgate Tower where preliminary drawings can be viewed alongside a JEALOUS limited edition screen print of the original painting which can be won by following @Broadgatelondon #BroadgateDESIGN.
