Abplas Transforming Point of Sale Displays following investment in Printing Technology

slide 1 of 2

Printing

Abplas, an approved Perspex Distribution fabricator, recently made a strategic investment in a flatbed printer, enhancing their acrylic fabrication capabilities. The company has a commitment to quality and sustainability, with a focus on reducing environmental impact.

Abplas faced a recent demand for Point of Sale (POS) display stands for a high-profile event. The requirement included creating visually appealing displays with seamless branding on Perspex® Opal 040 boxes, each measuring 300x300x300mm.

The company leveraged their recent investment in a Mimaki JFX-200 flatbed UV printer for in-house printing. This technology allowed Abplas to directly print on the acrylic substrate, eliminating the need for traditional PVC vinyl. The Mimaki printer enabled precise and high-quality prints, ensuring a seamless integration of branding on each side of the acrylic blocks. Unlike the previous method involving PVC vinyl, the new approach eliminated raised edges around images, resulting in a more polished and professional appearance.

One notable advantage of this new approach was the reduced reliance on PVC vinyl, a material known for its challenging recyclability. By printing directly on the substrate, ABPLAS was able to minimize waste and contribute to a more sustainable production process. This shift aligns with the company's commitment to environmental responsibility.

To add a unique touch to the fabricated cubes, ABPLAS incorporated LED illumination into each box. Using rechargeable power packs, the illuminated displays offered over 8 hours of run time at full brightness. This innovative addition not only enhanced the visual appeal of the POS displays but also demonstrated ABPLAS's capability to integrate cutting-edge technologies into their fabrication projects.

The successful completion of the POS display stands showcased ABPLAS's ability to seamlessly merge acrylic fabrication with direct-to-media printing. The investment in the Mimaki JFX-200 printer not only improved the overall quality of prints but also contributed to environmental sustainability by reducing reliance on non-recyclable materials.

This case study highlights ABPLAS's commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability, positioning them as a forward-thinking player in the world of acrylic fabrication and printing technology.
